He holds a Chemical Engineering degree from PUC / RS, a postgraduate degree in Environmental Management from Markaryd - Sweden and an MBA in Advanced administration, Financial Management and Business Management from Fundação Dom Cabral. He has over 30 years of experience in Pulp and Paper Plants Management in Brazil (Riocell, Ripasa, Aracruz and Veracel).
Manager of Innovation and Technology at the SENAI SP, responsible for the processes supporting São Paulo State industrial companies regarding international prospection of new technologies, as well for the management of technological assistance to the companies, in addition to the network of certified laboratories in the State of São Paulo. Responsible for the implementation of technological Platforms of New materials and micro-fabrication, in partnership with the Swiss Center for Electronics and Micromechanics (CSEM). Graduated in Electronic Engineering at the Mackenzie University in 1981, with specialization in telecommunications, intelligent instrumentation and industrial automation at the Ryerson University, in Toronto, Canada, and at the Technical School, in Sainte Croix, Switzerland.

Professor Pedro Fardim (b. 1966) obtained his Ph.D. in physical chemistry in 1999 at Campinas State University (UNICAMP) in Brazil. In 2000 he became associated with the Laboratory of Wood and Paper Chemistry at the Åbo Akademi University (ÅA) as post-doctoral researcher and in 2004 he was appointed Adjunct Professor. In August 2005 he was appointed as full Professor in Biomass Chemical Engineering at the Laboratory of Fibre and Cellulose Technology at ÅA. During 1992 to 1999 he has worked as supervisor in a R&D laboratory of a top level biomaterials company in Brazil. Pedro Fardim main research interest lie within the area of polysaccharide chemistry, biofibres, bioshapes, hybrid materials, topochemistry and process chemistry, nanoscience and spectroscopy and he has published more than 100 papers in scientific journals and books, and given more than 60 invited talks at conferences and research institutions.
